I can't picture Don Jr being thrown in jail. As dumb as he is, I don't get why he doesn't just go down to Capital Hill and plead the 5th. I mean of course I'd love the idea of him being jailed but it's hard to imagine at this point given how lucky this family is
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 9, 2019 11:25 PM |
We need at least one sacrificial lamb. I could see Donald ending up like Nixon, so Don Jr. has to be the one in jail.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 9, 2019 11:28 PM |
Trump would pardon Jr.

by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 9, 2019 11:40 PM |
All Don Jr. has to do is show up and plead the Fifth and it's all over. In a normal world there would be repercussions for pleading the Fifth but not with the Trump family.

Trump's base doesn't expand despite the latest show of his approval ratings from Gallop. About 8% to 10% of the electorate will fluctuate external to his committed base which is approximately a third of the electorate.

Comey appearing right now in a CNN Town Hall hosted by Anderson Cooper. Spill it James.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 10, 2019 12:05 AM |
I'm entertaining the thought of going back to the first thread and reading it.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 10, 2019 12:48 AM |
lol Trump is not going to like this town hall. Comey just said Trump repeated the inauguration crowd size lie as well as lying that he didn't make fun of that disable reporter when they had dinner early in 2017
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 10, 2019 12:54 AM |
There are people that live in their own reality, and Trump is one of them. I used to live with someone like that, and they would make up entire scenarios that were laughably untrue - but they believed it, heart and soul. I couldn't move out of there fast enough.
Trump is like an elderly dementia patient who has completely lost his mind, and the GOP just stands there next to him and his provable lies and agrees with him.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 10, 2019 12:56 AM |
Comey can piss and moan all he wants but at anytime he could have brought the wrath down on those FBI assholes in NYC by informing internal affairs about their blackmail attempts.
But he didn't. Nor did he reprimand them. Instead, he allowed the fuckers to hold him hostage and reopen the "buttery males" bullshit.
He can either apologize and own his shit or STFU. I have no use for him or the NY FBI traitors.
May Putin's tea find them all.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 10, 2019 12:57 AM |
I don't feel bad for Comey but he's useful now to troll Trump and Fox since Comey does tell the truth. He may not have always acted the way he should have but he's not a liar and that really causes problems for Trump
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 10, 2019 12:58 AM |
Junior doesn’t even have to show up and plead the 5th. He can take the 5th INSTEAD of showing up.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 10, 2019 12:59 AM |
lol yes Anderson get messy! He's bringing up Sarah Sanders' lie now that everyone in the FBI wanted Comey fired

They showed such contempt for Obama and his administration. Yes, you Comey. And so many of your fellow FBIers. Now, the mask has slipped off the GOP and it is they, not the Dems, who are the party of lawlessness, Anti-Constitution and anti-Institutional.

The fact that a republican signed off on those supenas is a HUGE deal.
Richard Burr is under enormous pressure from repugs to drop it. Cruz, Paul and Graham all came out against him.
Burr is not budging.
This could be a big deal.

Burr holds firm despite GOP anger over Don Jr. subpoena:
The Senate Intelligence chairman has no plans to withdraw the subpoena for the president’s son.
Richard Burr faces intense pressure from Republicans to drop his subpoena of President Donald Trump’s eldest son and quickly wrap up the Senate Intelligence Committee’s Russia probe.
But despite a day facing attacks from the highest rungs of party leadership, Burr is unmoved, according to colleagues in both parties.

I read somewhere that China is skeptical of him sticking to anything he says in negotiations. Backing out of multiple treaties and agreements and lying every time you speak is going to have consequences at some point.

So, if Barr refuses to give the judge the unredacted report that she has court ordered to be given to her, what happens to him at that point? Now, he's in contempt of Congress and contempt of court?
As far as Burr and subpoenaing Dickhead Jr., I think in a weird way he's trying to give Jr. a second chance that the others who were directly charged with lying to Congress didn't get. They'll bring him in and ask if there's anything he wants to clarify that he may have "misspoken" about during his first testimony. The others, like Cohen, they just sent off to be charged. So, Burr is still being a Repug by giving Jr. a second chance instead of charging him but, being a Trump, Jr. is just fucking that up, too, which means it's backfiring on him and the Repugs.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 10, 2019 5:58 PM |
Where is Deep Throat when you need him?
What this whole Russia investigation needs is Deep Throat Two- someone who knows everything and can lead reporters to the right answers.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 10, 2019 5:59 PM |
The reason Mueller won't testify is pretty simple. Barr ordered him not to. Mueller is still working on other investigations, so I don't think he can resign yet without leaving everything, unsupervised, in the hands of Barr.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 10, 2019 6:00 PM |
R75, House Democrats think that Mueller will leave the DOJ at the end of the month, and therefore be free to testify. Meanwhile, Barr appears to be blocking him from testifying. The WaPo has a story today about this.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 10, 2019 6:03 PM |
R73- I've missed this whole part - so a judge has ordered Barr to hand over the unredacted report? If he refuses, then what's to stop the judge from treating him like any other person who defies a judge? Don't they wind up in jail?
Also, if anyone in the Trump administration can just ignore a legal subpoena, why can't everyone in the US do that as well? There must be hundreds of subpoenas that are issued through courts every day in the US - can't those people just point to people like Don Jr and say "well, if he can ignore it, so can I?"
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 10, 2019 6:03 PM |
R76- Isn't Mueller allowed to tell Democrats - "I'm free on such and such a date, so I can answer questions then." Democrats shouldn't have to guess when he's available.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 10, 2019 6:05 PM |
R78, there are negotiations ongoing. It seems complicated.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 10, 2019 6:07 PM |
R77, I think it was Amy Berman Jackson who ordered Barr to give her the unredacted report because of the Roger Stone trial, which she is presiding over. It's a court order, so I assume he will be found in contempt of court if he doesn't follow the court order. There is a second judge who is also supposed to request it but hasn't yet as far as I know.
R79, yeah. Complicated by Barr sticking his criminal fat fingers in everything.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 10, 2019 6:08 PM |
My suspicion is that the Senate intel committee now has emails to Donnie Jr. or some other evidence that he was fully aware of Trump Tower in Moscow plans all along, when he testified last year, UNDER OATH, that he was only peripherally aware of such plans.

With Burr not running for re-election he will get pretty lonely and he may be subject to all kinds of harassment. Including the perks he is entitled to as a retired member of Congress. “I will step back and just watch it unfold,” he told Fox News on Friday evening after declaring he had cancelled the trip. He then spun a conspiracy theory demonizing the Ukrainian government. “No trip because I believe I was walking into a bunch of people, one of whom already has found to be involved on this, and I think this was a setup. R160, I think it is true that Biden’s son got caught with coke. As a voter, that doesn’t matter to me because his son was an adult man and Biden has no control over it.
Jeb Bush has a grown daughter that is a crackhead and ended up in jail. I don’t like Jeb Bush, but if I did, that wouldn’t stop me from voting for him, and in fact he was elected by the voters of Florida and I think they knew about that, because it was a long term issue. I don’t think they cared about it. He ran for President after that was public knowledge.
“In 2002, [Noelle Bush] was first arrested for attempting to fill a fraudulent prescription for anti-anxiety medication and then again later for possessing crack cocaine at a rehabilitation facility in Florida.”
In the attached article, Jeb Bush makes the point that a First Family with a family member struggling with addiction is more likely to be sensitive to the plight of drug addiction. Fair point, although I’m not a Jeb fan.

Biden’s son was in the Naval Reserve, not the Marines:
“Vice President Joe Biden's son was booted from the Navy Reserve because he tested positive for drugs, it was revealed on Thursday.
“A U.S. official told NBC News that Hunter Biden was kicked out of the Reserve earlier this year after he failed a drug test.
“The official said Biden failed the test in 2013, but he was not kicked out until Feb. 14 of this year. Senior U.S. officials told NBC News that Biden, 44, tested positive for cocaine. The Wall Street Journal first reported the incident.”
That’s the same son who left his wife for his dead brother’s wife and now he’s broken up with her too.
For some background, both Biden sons were in a car accident with their mother when they were very young children and nearly died. Their thirty year old mother and one year old sister died. This happened when they were shopping for a Christmas tree and were hit by a truck.
Joe Biden married Jill Biden some time later and has been married to her ever since.
My guess is, Hunter Biden was probably given opiates as a young child when seriously injured and developed a taste for them. He had a skull fracture in the accident. He grew up in the middle of a terrible tragedy, and had a head injury as a young child, which can affect judgment. So it’s not surprising if he’s fucked up.

R178, I grew up in a part of the country of evangelicals where the appearance of the “antichrist” was expected to happen soon. And all those evangelicals were certain, emphatic they could never follow a man who pretended to follow Christ but did nothing emulating Christ. Today, All of them have sold out their “Christian” values and are raging maniacs talking guns, rage, and hatred. This has been a shock to me, to find out these people I thought had Christ in their heart, actually don’t. It’s the one thing I have personally gained from Trump’s reign, he has shown what deeply resides in the heart of people. Some broke high but the vast majoruty, most I know broke low. The way I’ve had to deal with this is looking at this time as coming to a crossroads. Not saying one is better than another. Just one has a different priority. It’s a great and wonderful time of decision.

"Harder Daddy" Lindz, all her political career which is basically her whole lucrative work experience, has always found an older man and latched onto him. She's opportunistic and will do anything to be in the good graces of whatever "daddy," at the moment is given her attention and instructions. That daddy is DJT.
And Miz Lindz promotes that she and a certain Supreme Court Justice are bonded beyond politics. That appears totally one-sided.
Compromised politicians, particularly the ones whereby they are pawns to foreign entities, are damaging to democracy.
The media doesn't probe and expose this stuff well enough. Investigative journalism is weak. The media will lose in a autocracy.

At some point in this saga and with the election, federal marshals will play a role.
Hopefully this administration has not been installing political loyalists and hacks in key positions with the U.S. Marshal Service. They are to serve all three branches of government.
If courts rule against DJT and the WH still refuses to comply, will the federal marshals fulfill the court orders and make arrests?
If Trump refuses to leave office after losing a relatively close election, this will be more than testy.
Congress needs to be monitoring.

Tired of cable media using black commentators, on staff or as guests, to dismiss or bash Pete Buttigieg. Pete is doing outreach to the black community and such takes time. Those commentators have other politicians they are supporting. CNN does this regularly, deliberately pushing a premature narrative that blacks don't relate to Pete and he doesn't understand their needs. Pete isn't well-known yet .

CNN used to be the world standard.
Live feeds from reporters on the ground all over the world.
The were live on the scene and had all the facts first.
Then, under Zucker, went from bad to worse to what it is now, which is basically Radar Online t.v. version.
Let’s say you were a greedy, faceless, conglomerate corporation and you bought the country’s most robust news outlet. You wouldn’t want it exposing your tentacles so you shrink it, and move everything ‘in studio’ with panels discussions.
It can do less damage to your agenda that way. You should also hire and empty suit like Zuck to make it happen.
But you sell just as many ads against this new garbage because for cable tv buys, there’s only so many places to go.
You profit more and expose corruption less.
It’s a win-win for your mega-conglomerate bottom line.

He did but it's understandable if you missed it. Only 40 million people saw it. I didn't watch it either.
NYT 'bombshell' on president's business losses was scooped by Trump himself
A member of NBC's entertainment division broke that story in 2004. His name was Donald Trump, star of "The Apprentice."
Look back to 2004, Season 1, Episode 1, Scene 1: Trump is in the back of a luxury car driving through the streets of Manhattan, boasting about who he was, what he owned and what made him who he is before sharing that the success "wasn’t always so easy."
"About 13 years ago, I was seriously in trouble. I was billions of dollars in debt," Trump said at the time. "But I fought back and I won. Big league. I used my brain. I used my negotiating skills. And I worked it all out. Now my company’s bigger than it ever was, stronger than it ever was and I’m having more fun than I ever had. I’ve mastered the art of the deal and I’ve turned the name Trump into the highest quality brand.”
The episode was a springboard for Trump from A-list New York tabloid star to A-list national TV star. The finale of the first season of "The Apprentice" was watched by 40 million people. For context, HBO's highest rated "Game of Thrones" drew 17.8 million, albeit on a pay channel. It was this reality show and that success that helped make Trump a household name synonymous to many as a winner, which helped springboard him to the presidency after running against a flawed, unauthentic Democratic candidate.

R270, I saw Nadler in person in October. Now that you mention it, he did have the physique of a heavy person that’s lost a lot of weight. His weight seemed reasonable though, he was heavy but not extremely so.
He was also an extremely intelligent and kind person. I’m not from NY, so I didn’t know him. When I found out he got this job I was actually reassured by that, he seemed decent. He was waiting for someone to show up and we were passing the time, he was very kind and patient with everyone even though he was out of state and nobody there knew who he was.
He was accompanied by a couple of women who acted kind of stuck up and self important, which was funny because there was really no reason for it. One acted like she had 100 cups of coffee and then walked into a library. The other acted like she was a queen walking among the drooling peasants. But Nadler himself was extremely courteous, humble and whip smart.

The Fuck?! Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says Donald Trump Jr. should ignore the subpoena issued to him by the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“If I were Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer, I would tell him, ‘You don’t need to go back into this environment anymore,’” Graham said in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. “‘You’ve been there for hours and hours and nothing being alleged here changes the outcome of the Mueller investigation.’ I would call it a day.”
Last week, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, to answer more questions about his contacts with Russia. Trump Jr. is reportedly resisting the subpoena and may invoke his Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions.
The panel is seeking to question Trump Jr. about congressional testimony he gave in September 2017 about a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow — testimony that was later contradicted by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

Uh on...Senatrice Cunty Cotton's written a book. Tom Cotton says sacrifice of Americans paying tariffs is "minimal" compared to those serving overseas.
As the U.S. and China inch closer to an all-out trade war, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton says that the sacrifice Americans will pay for President Trump's tariffs are "minimal" compared to those serving overseas. President Trump has maintained that Americans would not be fronting the brunt of the cost for tariffs, but many, including the president's own economic adviser, say they will.
"There will be some sacrifices on the part of Americans, I grant you that, but I also would say that sacrifice is pretty minimal compared to the sacrifices that our soldiers make overseas that are fallen heroes that are laid to rest in Arlington make," Cotton told "CBS This Morning" when asked about the impact of tariffs on farmers in his own state of Arkansas.
Cotton, the author of "Sacred Duty: A Soldier's Tour at Arlington National Cemetery," said that in the long term, the goal is to make sure that the U.S. "remains preeminent as a global super power both in the economic and the security" worlds.
The price tag for that "preeminence" on the average American family, according to trade experts falls between $700 to $1,000.

Ignoring a subpoena is breaking the law. Junior Mint doesn't work in the WH or anywhere else in the federal government. There are no executive privilege claims that can be attempted to apply to him.
Graham needs reprimanded by his Senate colleagues and lose his chair of the Judiciary Committee. The Senate won't do it because of partisanship, but is is much deserved.

Courts & Law Supreme Court’s conservatives overturn precedent as liberals ask ‘which cases the court will overrule next’
By Robert Barnes May 13 at 12:36 PM
The Supreme Court’s conservative majority overturned a 41-year-old precedent Monday, prompting a pointed warning from liberal justices about “which cases the court will overrule next.” ... The issue in Monday’s 5 to 4 ruling was one of limited impact: whether states have sovereign immunity from private lawsuits in the courts of other states. In 1979, the Supreme Court ruled that there is no constitutional right to such immunity, although states are free to extend it to one another and often do.
But the court’s conservative majority overruled that decision, saying there was an implied right in the Constitution that means states “could not be haled involuntarily before each other’s courts,” in the words of Justice Clarence Thomas, who wrote Monday’s decision. ... Thomas acknowledged the departure from the legal doctrine of stare decisis, in which courts are to abide by settled law without a compelling reason to overrule the decision.
But he said the court’s decision four decades ago in Nevada v. Hall “is contrary to our constitutional design and the understanding of sovereign immunity shared by the states that ratified the Constitution. Stare decisis does not compel continued adherence to this erroneous precedent.”
As was evident during the confirmation hearings of President Trump’s nominees to the Supreme Court — Justices Neal M. Gorsuch and Brett M. Kavanaugh — liberals are worried about what other court precedents the newly fortified conservative majority will find wrongly decided. ... Justice Stephen G. Breyer clearly had other issues — abortion rights, for instance, or affirmative action — in mind in his dissent. ... It is “dangerous to overrule a decision only because five members of a later court come to agree with earlier dissenters on a difficult legal question,” Breyer wrote, adding: “Today’s decision can only cause one to wonder which cases the court will overrule next.” ....
The case is Franchise Tax Board of California v. Hyatt.

CNN: Many Democrats fear Trump is laying an impeachment trap
CNN) It seems a crazy idea that any president would actually want to be impeached. But Donald Trump has so subverted Washington logic with his wild, norm-crushing presidency that there is now a serious conversation -- at least among Democrats -- about whether he views the ultimate constitutional crisis as a weapon in his re-election campaign.
The possibility is shaping the strategies of Democratic leaders as they weigh the political risks of impeachment and their duty to defend principles of American governance.
Many Democrats fear that Trump may be laying an impeachment trap that could consume the House majority, distract them from key issues like health care and alienate persuadable voters.
"Part of our reluctance is we are already a bitterly divided country and an impeachment process will divide us further," Schiff said Sunday on "This Week" on ABC News. "He certainly seems to be trying and maybe this is his perverse way of dividing us more ... He thinks that's to his political advantage, but it's certainly not to the country's advantage."
Trump dodged a question in a Politico interview last week about whether he wanted to be impeached. And he argues that if anyone committed crimes over the 2016 campaign, it is Democrats, not him.
At other times he has, however, seemed to be testing out arguments that he could use in his defense in an impeachment showdown.
"It's hard to impeach somebody who hasn't done anything wrong and who's created the greatest economy in the history of our country," Trump told Reuters in an interview in December.
"I'm not concerned, no. I think that the people would revolt if that happened," he said.
Much Democratic reticence about impeachment is shaped by a certain reading of the history of the Bill Clinton era. In midterm elections in 1998 that took place after Republicans had initiated the impeachment process, Democrats actually picked up House seats in a reverse of historical trends. The result has been read ever since as a judgment by voters to rebuke Republicans who sought unsuccessfully to oust a twice-elected President.
Some Democrats fear that an impeachment process now could play into the current President's hands and allow him to rally the country against them.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | May 14, 2019 3:11 AM |
They need to open formal impeachment proceedings against the fucker and let the chips fall where they may. There's no data or evidence that shows that bringing impeachment proceedings against a sitting President, whether successfully or not, will hurt the initiating party.
And if they DON'T bring it, then our Constitution isn't worth the paper its written one. We are either a nation of laws, or we aren't.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | May 14, 2019 3:16 AM |
I do think he wants to be impeached. He must have a rallying cry. He needs the material. That is why I said Nancy is playing this right. She drives him crazy.
He knows he will never be removed.
This is all Steve Bannon. It smells of his rancid flesh.
But the Dems are smarter. I think they will bring everything to light and let the public turn on him. Then he will be arrested once he is voted out.

I think I mentioned it either earlier in this thread or in a related thread but none other than Alan Dershowitz wrote the very long introduction to the Mueller Report book that was released last week. As you can imagine, the entire thing was written with a flashlight from up Trump's ass.

I don't know what the heck they are afraid of. No, it won't drag down the whole party but rather elevate it in the eyes of the Dem base, which is larger than the Trump deplorable base. The party got to give its own base something to focus on, so they will turn out to vote against Trump.

by Anonymous | reply 325 | May 14, 2019 3:46 AM |
They don't need to officially impeach him to start impeachment hearings. Doing so will give them move legal power to do what they're already trying to do. The investigations will take long enough that it will be close enough to the election that they can use Mitch McConnell's patented "too close to an election to formally impeach" excuse just to make sure everything keeps going without giving Trump the talking point of actually being impeached.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | May 14, 2019 3:52 AM |

but I don't get what there is to be afraid of. The rabid deplorables are already foaming at the mouth and will turn out to vote for the orange turd in 2020 regardless of what the House does or does not do. Even if they don't impeach him, Trump will find some angle to get his zombies riled up. If they do impeach him, it won't make their numbers any greater.
If enough of the rest of us turn up to vote in the swing states, Trump will lose (unless there's election hacking/tampering)

by Anonymous | reply 334 | May 14, 2019 5:24 AM |
R330, they did last time. Ninety percent of "independents" are embarrassed Republicans who won't publicly admit to being Repugs anymore.
R331, I don't want them to do nothing and I don't think they will do nothing. I think they are following the path I laid out in R326. They are holding off on officially announcing the transition from committee investigations to impeachment hearings until they have followed the letter of the law in every way possible. They will time the transition to moving to impeachment hearings to the point where the Repugs will start arguing that we're too close to an election to consider impeachment which will make the Repugs have to talk endlessly about impeachment going into the 2020 election cycle.
In other news, tomorrow is the hearing on Trump suing the banks to keep them from giving the financial documents to Congress. Trump's lawyers are endlessly whining while the Democrats' lawyers are saying, "We're good to go.", so I think that's leaning the Dems way.
And, lastly, why did Barr turn over the unredacted Mueller report to the judge but can get away with not giving it to the House which is conducting equivalent legal proceedings?

My partner and I were blessed with our daughter who has Down's Syndrome 17 yrs ago. Yes, we knew this during my partner's pregnancy, but we also made a fully-informed CHOICE. And even though we were fully committed, it didn't mean there weren't incredibly difficult times- potty training till she was 10; fighting the Education system tooth and nail, or crying ourselves to sleep over every goddammed.bully, just to name a literal few. And I know we had it EASY. And although I cherish our daughter dearly, It gives me a literal pit in my STOMACH when, I think of the millions upon millions of women out there who will literally have NO CHOICE when they are confronted by the news that their fetus/ baby is seriously ill and will no longer have the option to terminate the pregnancy. [quote]I'd like the Democrats to be less concerned about dividing the country and more concerned about uncovering crimes and holding their perpetrators accountable. Otherwise those crimes become de facto permitted.
But, what if the outcome of not worrying about dividing the country is to divide the country to the point where the very criminals you want held accountable get another term to continue their crimes? This is a very precarious balancing game that Pelosi and the rest of the Dems have to play just right. They haven't even been in power for four full months yet and look at everything that's already happened and in process. Pelosi is a master of political power moves. And this happened-
The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Kenneth Lee to a lifetime federal judgeship over the objections of both of his home-state senators and despite his past controversial writings on sexism, AIDS, LGBTQ rights, slavery and Native Americans.
At the time, Lee argued that claims of sexism are “irrelevant pouting”; that LGBTQ rights advocacy is “yet another way to portray people as victims in need of preferential treatment”; that gay people are more promiscuous than straight people, which is why “9 out of 10 people with AIDS are gay or drug users”; that multiculturalism is a “malodorous sickness”; and that African Americans’ fight for equality in the aftermath of slavery is similar to other immigrants trying to overcome discrimination.
Like the vast majority of Trump’s court picks, Lee is a member of the conservative Federalist Society, which has been funneling judicial nominees to the White House who oppose abortion rights, LGBTQ rights and voting rights.
He is also Trump’s 40th confirmed appeals court judge. That’s so many ― more than any president has obtained by this point in a first term ― that one in every six seats on a U.S. appeals court is now filled by a Trump nominee.

You know, they have the votes they need to overturn Roe on SCOTUS, but it won't happen overnight with just one case. It will be a gradual hollowing out. That's just how the courts work. So the Republican urgency to salt the courts with their judges is not as sharp as it was a year ago.
But, the Republicans are extremely nervous about the possibility of war with Iran. Every single analysis going back to Bush 43, indicates that Iran has a ton of stuff underground, and there will be absolutely no way we can knock them out with airstrikes. There will be boots on the ground and a bloodbath for our men. That's reality.
And they will also have to invade Lebanon. Iraq is fragile. It is not stable enough to be the kind of staging area we need. The Repukes know this. Generals they respect know this. So IMO they are very nervous. The Tariff/trade war with China and the hardship it's causing for red states is also a huge problem.
Trump will not be advised, guided, or controlled. So it is no longer inconceivable that we might peel off 20 Senators to move him out. He's using his Justice Department as a political weapon. But Republicans ought to know that he will turn on them as quickly as he turns on Democrats. They have to know Trump is really non-partisan. Anyone he decides to investigate or prosecute is vulnerable.
We need to make sure their own people are turning on them, and no one is doing a better job of softening his support than Elizabeth Warren campaigning in places like West Virginia, and others who are going into Trump country like Klobuchar and Biden.
Yes we have 2 million Democrats running for President. But if those "Presidential candidates" are visiting your town halls and essentially saying the same things about healthcare, taxes, the environment, and jobs/infrastructure, we can peel away part of Trump's base. Not the extremists, or the mentally challenged, but there are others. A lot of Republican women are pissed about the abortion bans.

Please.
GOP women fully support these abortion band. They want ALL women to be as chained, shackled and miserable as they are. They see unmarried women as "the enemy" trying to steal their old, fat ugly husbands.
They think having an old, fat white man by their side raises their standing in the world and if they have to punish other women to maintain that standing, then so be it.

Trump Art: Trump Navigating and Battling the Swamp
Why I recognize Ivanka, Melania (grasping the flag bearer--is that Kellyanne or Betsy DeVos?), Ben Carson, John Bolton, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Wilbur Ross; but can't identify the rest clearly. Maybe that's Bannon with the binoculars and Steve Miller with the back paddle?
Is that Mnuchin trying to jab the gator?

r490 that's all a dream. While the Senators may be scared or worried their constituents don't care about Iran. With Trump's support a Senator wanting any type of political future wouldn't break ranks to impeach.
Dems keep viewing things through the lens of the process when the only thing that matters is the politics of the situation.

Just to return to Trump's worthless pardon for Conrad Black. Always remember Black's biographer calling Black a millionaire who longed above all to be accepted by billionaires. And so duly got caught with his venal fingers in the till.
Birds of a feather of course. Just one minor joy from Trump's downfall will be that Black's 'pardon' was bestowed by a treasonous criminal. Black will forever be known by history as a greedy social climber who did jail time.

Oopsie. It turns out that the Steele Dossier source for the infamous alleged "pee tape" is the same source who claimed there was a Russian consulate in Miami. There is no Russian consulate in Miami. That is a pretty good indicator that there is no pee tape either. Looks like it was fruit from a rotten tree. Surely if such a tape existed, we'd have seen it by now.

It will be extremely interesting to uncover exactly whence funds that needed laundering by Trump, Inc., not simply that such laundering occurred for Deutschebank (son of Justice Kennedy), Alfa Bank (Russia), and the Bank of Cyprus (Wilbur Ross).
Heroin/opium (Afghanistan, for example). Females, including underage and abducted (SE Asia, e.g.). Weaponry.

Seems there's only one "news" source behind R515's post. The writer is "Debra Heine, conservative Catholic mom of six and longtime political pundit. She has written for several conservative news websites over the years, including Breitbart and PJ Media." Her source seems to be an anonymous Twitter account, that supposedly has info from the DOJ investigation into Republican claims of FBI misconduct. I would take this with a very large grain of salt.

[quote] Oopsie. It turns out that the Steele Dossier source for the infamous alleged "pee tape" is the same source who claimed there was a Russian consulate in Miami.
The launch of a formal inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation -- being led by one of the Justice Department’s toughest prosecutors -- has touched off a new round of behind-the-scenes finger-pointing among Obama administration officials who could have some explaining to do about efforts to surveil the Trump campaign.
A key dispute that flared this week concerns whether then-FBI Director James Comey or then-CIA Director John Brennan -- or both of them -- pushed the unverified Steele dossier containing claims about President Trump and his relationship to Russia. The dossier’s more sensational claims were never substantiated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team.
“Amazing—James Comey says that in 2016, John Brennan insisted on including the dossier in their IC assessment. But Brennan says: no no, COMEY wanted to use the dossier,” North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, a Republican who has long demanded answers about the origins of the probe, tweeted Thursday in reference to a prior Fox News report.
Meadows added: “They know the truth is coming. And now they're all throwing each other under the bus.”

Ha! March? Well, OVER 40% of women ALWAYS vote GOP so if they aren't bothered by their own second-class citizenry than neither am I! I am so over all this pink pussy hat wearing, hashtag metoo, let's have a march foolishness if you can't get nearly HALF of other women to stop voting Republican! All this blather about being so intelligent and competent! Bah! If women are so smart why are over 40% of them still drilling holes in their own boat?
Look if women want these abortion laws in shit holes like Alabama or anywhere else, I say let them have them! Majority rules and these rancid Republicans are the majority there. If it isn't a problem for them, maybe we should consider that IT ISN'T A PROBLEM AT ALL! It might smarten up the many women, especially the 18-24 year-olds who steadfastly REFUSE to ever vote. It's a teachable experience for them!

What bothers me is that the deplorables in Alabama and other stupid red states get more of a vote than I do in CA. The really smart people leave those states and get less of a vote when they move to the smarter blue states. The electoral college no longer truly represents the will of the people as people move around. Time to abolish it.
Anyway, I'm tired of dumb americans voting against the health of our people and our planet. I can't believe that scum trump is still in office and that mcconnell etc keep cheating in plain sight.

-- Pelosi: NO IMPEACHMENT
-- Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in an interview published Monday that she's against impeaching President Trump "unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan," arguing "he's just not worth it."
-- "Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it," Pelosi told The Washington Post.
-- The issue has divided Democrats, with some members pushing for Trump's removal for office and others indicating they plan to wait and see what ongoing investigations produce.

There must be a highly developed counter story and distraction being heavily hawked in conservative media. When asked what all these new investigations into the origin of the Russia interference investigations in 2016 now ordered by Barr are supposed to discover that we don't already know, someone in another gay media place posted this answer:
"Not much, just proof that there were illegal efforts by some in OUR federal government to rig the election to help Hillary Clinton win, to sabotage the Trump transition, and to undo the results of the election by framing the President and members of his campaign, transition, and administration. Of course, I could be wrong."
